Solid Basswood is the #1 choice of wood in the shutter industry. It is lightweight, yet strong, sturdy and stable. It is also well suited to be painted, stained, and have natural finishes. While joint wood is a composite material lumber made of recycled wood fibers from recovered saw dust, peanut shells, bamboo, straw, and waste products such as high-density polyethylene and PVC. Additives like colorants, stabilizers, reinforcing agents and lubricants are also used which tends to deform in hot weather.
